W not convincing many

For all that many left-wing people think that the Economist should be renamed World Fascist Daily (oh Irony...), if even the Brits think he's off his twig, then perhaps the NeoCons will finally get shovelled into the shallow roadside graves they deserve.

Sadly, given the lack of conservatives among the Republican "front-runners", I won't be holding my breath....

(hat tip to The Mess That Greenspan Made for linking to the Economist cartoon)

I think this is part of the Bush/Clinton collusion. If Bush wants the US military not to get gutted under Clinton (many of whose coattails would axe it immediately in favor of social spending), he needs her involved closely in foreign policy.

And, frankly, Iran's government needs to go. Five years for the US going through hell in Iran would do more for world peace than any other action I can think of us taking.

That said, I agree completely with the cartoon -- the real bummer here is that the "neocons" won't stand up and admit to simply being Wilsonian interventionists. The idea that BushCo is actually fooling anybody with the ExcuseDuJour is laughable.

Actually, The Economist is one of the more objective magazines out there. Just putting in one left-winger opinion. :)
BTW, Russ do you really mean collusion? wouldn't that mean that Bush (W) and Clinton (H) were working together? Or did you mean that?

Of course Bush and Clinton are working together, Amanda... the Bushes and Clinton have a very congenial, almsot cozy relationship. In addition, how many other Democratic candidates got invited to the White House specifically for an in-person post-Bush Iraq foreign-policy briefing?

This would help explain why I don't like either of them.
