Eric Holder was interviewed today and explained that they're looking for a new SCOTUS appointee who "understands that the constitution is a living document that [must handle situations the founders never anticipated]". The "living document" buzz-phrase is code for "we only want to honor the constitution where it's convenient, but elsewhere will interpret it as we choose."
The more that this kind of crap is tolerated the less our rule of law is worth.

Not that, for once, the "tu quoque" is unjustified: the Bush administration's purposeful gutting of the Constitution only sets the stage for what the Obama administration is going to do when it grabs that football out of midair and spikes it in the endzone.
A precedent has been slowly set over the course of several different administrations, both republican and democrat - it's why the buzz phrase "living document" exists.
Not to get pejorative, but maybe if the 'new' right was less concerned with the general state of our souls, it could find the time to champion the contract the founders fought and died to establish.
