The life of an academic
What does your a mild-mannered wife do when she's not knitting with her husband? She slogs through critical theory of course! And then (cue the Wolf's leitmotif from "Peter and the Wolf") Photon will decide she looks comfy, and it's lights out til bedtime. Ah, the hazards of being an academic.... :0)

He has good taste in where to put head and paw.
Pretty as always. Hey, has she been re-tested on peanuts sincechildhood? Rushe read that it's one of the ones that can mysteriously go away when you grow up...
I'm not exactly sure I can make a comment here and not get shot at at a later time so I'm going to leave this one well alone. I have been told you and your wife are now the new "cute" couple. You should ask your brother on my reaction.
Not get shot?! What for? Come on, Mike, we're thicker skinned than that--lay it on us!
True, but there is that "Dude, that's my WIFE you are talking about" reaction that I learned not to tempt. Especially considering that you are not one of these "metro-sexual" pussies I hear about, but a bit more old school. So thick-skinned or not, I don't tempt fate. Anyhoo, once I am outta Fort Hood I'll know what is going down Fort Riley-wise and I'll be in contact as to when I will be visiting.
And as an aside, Today I hate the 56th BCT because they managed to be back in country 1 day and immediately decided that we had to have 3 one hour meetings back to back, which were delayed in starting because they couldn't find everyone because they had put out earlier that we wouldn't be having any meetings until the next day.
Ok, given that you won't cough it up, Maddie says she "thinks she's flattered, she thinks, but she's not sure :o)".
If you were simply going to observe that I've got a hot wife, I'd have to agree w/ you. :o)
jimdesu is definitely *not* a metrosexual pussy, but I don't think he's particulary threatened by comments about his wife as a) she can take care of herself and b) he knows he has her undying devotion.
That said, James, your wife is not only hot but *intellectually* hot, which is even better.
wooo!
Ya know it says something about me that I'm the only person who never hesitates to tell Jim that he has a hot wife with a sweet ass..
AND I'M HIS BROTHER.
Hmm..
It says you know me well enough to know that acknowledging my good fortune causes me no anxiety.
Maddie says "I have a hot ass? Awww, thank you!"
That must be an awful book, too. I know that pose... intimately. That's the pose of "I know I should read some more, but really, a misguided sense of duty is the only reason I haven't let it fall to the floor already."
Sheesh, I guess my coments wouldn't have caused any undue excitment. But since they have been more or less covered in the above stream, I won't be redundant. I didn't know your wife was an academian though. What is her specialty? And where does she teach? Inquiring minds want to know.
She's getting her M.A. in comparative literature. She was going to continue for her PhD etc, but since the picture was taken, she's decided she want's to teach the little animals in high-school instead, so that's what we're gonna do. Hell, I'm tempted to join her.
High school? Yeech. No offense, but that could be unpleasant. Unless it's advanced placement where you are teaching kids who actually want to be there. Eh, who am I to judge? Knock yourself (or herself) out and do it.
I dunno, my highschool was infinitly better than my junior high was. I would much rather teach highschool than junior high based on my own school going experiences..
You know, Mike, that's all true, but at least a component of your job description isn't remaining seated in the same posture in the same direction for 8 hours at a time.
Judging by what my best friend tells me about teaching High School (and this is in a red state that hasn't fully lost its mind and gone over to this 'grades hurt feelings' bullshit), you guys have LOST YOUR MINDS.
The only good thing I can imagine about teaching HS is all the young hot ass walking around :).
Well, trading yen would be preferable, but I just don't have the seed money....
