Regardless of whether you think global warming is true, false, or beneficial, we do know that we have a looming issue of energy availability for the next few generations. To that extent, a fizzlecist in England has put together the draft of a book that explains the options that people have, based on a numerical approach that respects the fact that a Watt is a lot smaller than a MW.

I'm voting for GenIV nukes, myself. And selling the idea to my buddies among the Dems/Greens. Add in the newly-developed radiationvoltaic chips... and you've got the perfect tide-me-over until the Next Big Thing.

Heh, along those lines we have been having quite an interesting dynamic here at my Master's Residency. We are doing ours at the same time as the diplomatic Master's Program is. So we have a bunch of war geeks interacting with a bunch of diplomatic geeks. You can tell the really left side of the house by the way they twitch. And the twitching gets more pronounced the longer we go. One of the great comments I overheard at the bar last night was "I'm getting my Master's of Military History in order to pick up where you diplomacy guys finished screwing up."
Oh that was funny. Even the diplo guy was laughing (he was actually a AF officer), me and the two marines I was with were rolling on the floor.

Heh, your welcome. I just ran into a VMI Class of 2002 and he just told me what has to be the greatest FTX story ever. It involves the Army ROTC, the Fort Pickett Land Nav course and a team of Navy SEALs who mistook the ROTC Cadets as their OPFOR.
I think you can put those 2's together and get 4 without to much help.

I'm not so much thinking "4" as I'm thinking 256, or some other very high power of 2...
I'm very happy about the verdict -- sadly, with all of the "is this good policy for our country" instead of "is this what the constitution says" opinions, I'm not terribly optimistic about today's ruling being able to change CA's laws.
True, but it does put them on the defensive in that arena. I am not liking the 5-4 split on this, you can see the party lines like they were neon-green on this one.
Of course, to challenge it again is going to take a long time, you need to enact a law, get it passed, then get it challenged, then get it through the system and then get the court to hear it. And I doubt the court is going to touch this anytime soon after coming out with such a definative answer.
